(Nashville, TN – Jan 16, 2022) – Country singer and recent Josie award-winner Jimmy Bowen has dropped a special treat to country radio this week with his reflective take on the Merle Haggard hit, “Big City.” Co-written by Haggard and Dean Holloway, the song was first released in 1982 and became Haggard’s 27th number-one single on the Billboard Hot country Singles chart.

With only one week at radio, Bowen’s classic take on this country favorite has already caught the attention of radio and listeners alike, and “Big City” is gaining steam as one of the CD TEX “Top 10 Most Popular Broadcast Downloads.”

“I love the story behind ‘Big City,’” says Bowen. “The guy gets up, works hard every day, and has nothing to show for his labor; we’ve ALL felt like that,” he notes. “then he wakes up and realizes its time to start enjoying his life…so he walks off his job. We can’t all do that, but man, some days…” Bowen laughs. “I’ve been there.”

While fans of his music embrace the release of his new track, Bowen is preparing to film the sixth season of Jimmy Bowen and Friends, his popular live TV music series, at the Texas Troubadour Theatre (2416 Music Valley Drive, Nashville, TN, 37214.)
